The story of Her Pack began not with grand plans, but with a simple observation. Working on a project, you and your co-founder stumbled upon the harsh reality of period poverty in Sri Lanka.
Whispers became shouts as you delved deeper, witnessing firsthand the struggles of young girls forced to use unhygienic rags during their periods. This injustice fueled a fire within you both, igniting a mission: to end period poverty in Sri Lanka.
With unwavering determination, you embarked on a two-pronged approach. The initial phase saw you raising funds and distributing reusable pads to 1500 school girls, offering them a hygienic and sustainable solution. But there was more to be done. A field research trip to the poorest region exposed a heart-wrenching reality: 80% of girls resorted to unhygienic cloths, putting their health at risk.
This revelation became the catalyst for Her Pack's innovative concept. You envisioned a platform that addressed every facet of period poverty in Sri Lanka. Well-designed, reusable cloth pads would provide hygiene and dignity to girls, particularly those in remote areas. But the impact wouldn't stop there. The production of these pads would empower unemployed women, offering them a livelihood and financial independence.
